Palestine City Manager says oversight committee would prevent him from taking the money needed for his mortgage
PALESTINE, TX—Palestine City Manager Mike Hornes lashes out at council members and citizens who want to take the money he needs for his mortgage by creating an oversight committee that would prevent him from stealing the needed cash.
“This is just fucking ridiculous,” Hornes told The Dogwood Tale. “I don’t come down to these peoples pathetic job and unplug the Slurpee machine so why in the hell do they want to take money out of my pocket because we know for a fact that they’ll figure out what I’m doing to pay my mortgage every month.”
At a mere $125,000, Hornes said if the city wants an oversight committee they need to increase his pay.
“Look, I pay $1300 a month for a mortgage, and I easily pay for that by swiping some of the water payments and blame it on the cashiers, but if this goes into effect, I’m fucked.”
Hornes said that an oversight committee would cost taxpayers only $15,600 a year as a salary increase. Otherwise, he asks that you continue to pay your water bills in cash only.
