PALESTINE, TX–The City of Palestine says that city hall is on lock down after an employee noticed a glass of city water sitting on another employee’s desk. The Centers for Disease Control were the lead agency investigating the matter and handling the removal of the glass of tap water.
“We should know, I mean, damn, we know not to drink the crap,” City Manager Mike Alexander said, “and leave it to someone working here to go and get a glass of water anyway.”
Alexander said that the city makes bottled water, certified to come from a source other than the city’s municipal water supply, to employees.
“All employees also carry pocket water testers to make sure that they don’t mistakenly drink the water,” Alexander said.
The CDC says that the removal of the water is their top priority.
“We will send in a team to decide the best course of action to take in removing the glass of water,” a CDC official said, “Once we know the best way to remove it, the same team will return with the equipment necessary to safely remove it. We may have to boil it on site before removal, but we’re hoping to just bring it out and move it into the county for disposal using a hazardous material transport truck.”
“You know, it just amazes me how stupid the people in this town are” Alexander said while shaking his head.
The CDC says that once the water is removed a full biohazard sweep of city hall will be conducted and estimate that city offices will reopen on Wednesday.
