PALESTINE, TX–Palestine City Council approved taking the interim title from Fire Chief Shannon Davis , making him the next fire chief to be fired in six months.

“I think we got the right guy,” District Five Councilman Doug Smith said, “I’m ready to vote to fire him in six months.”

Mayor Bob Herrington echoed other council members feelings about the hiring of Davis.

“He’s great,” Herrington explained, “we asked him some questions, he answered them perfectly.  I don’t know what he’ll do to get fired, but believe me, we’re ready to fire him.  I kind of hoped he could screw up before I am replaced in the upcoming election, but if not, I’m sure my successor will love the opportunity to fire the guy.”

A hurried City Manager Mike Alexander, on the way to his vehicle, declined to comment on the story saying only, “I don’t have time, I’ve got to get to Herrington’s house.  The fat bastard wants to fire me next week.”

Smith, standing nearby, immediately made a motion to fire Alexander, but walked away seemingly distraught when he was reminded that he wasn’t at an actual meeting.

Do you think it’ll be on the next agenda,” a tearful Smith asked.
