PALESTINE, TX–The City of Palestine issued a Code Red non-emergency announcement on late Wednesday night announcing that one or two and up to twenty Syrian refugees are now missing. Syrian refugees began arriving in Palestine on Monday night.
The city says residents should not be alarmed and encouraged residents to enjoy the upcoming Christmas celebrations throughout the city.
Jackson Hanks, who headed up the refugee program, said that if residents see refugees, they should do nothing.
“If you see the refugees and you believe they are the missing refugees, you should pretty much just do nothing,” Hanks said. “We don’t want to be accused of being bigots or anything like that except that you are welcome to call in on Meddling in the Morning and use any slur you wish so that we can then hold Mayor Bob Herrington accountable for what you said. Otherwise, let’s be welcoming to our new neighbors. A lot of them have asked where local gun shows are held and I gladly gave them directions to help them find the tourists locations they are looking for and, of course, I urge our residents to do the same.”
Hanks, who basically runs nothing, said he speaks for citizens of Palestine, though most residents we interviewed had no idea who was he.
