PALESTINE, TX—From inside a bomb shelter at his home where he sought refuge in the moments after the false alarm missile warning appeared on CNN; Mayor Steve Presley sent an email to local media announcing that he is safe and that he is still in charge of the city.

“As soon as I saw the warning that a missile, possibly a nuclear one, was headed towards us, i gathered everything I needed and loved and went into the shelter,” Presley said in the email.  “Please let my wife know that she must run faster during emergencies if she, too, wants to enjoy the bar I had installed down here.”

The mayor, despite news reports confirming the warning, was an accident,  refuses to exit the shelter until a radiation check of the city is complete.

“Have the military perform a check on the city to determine if there any indications of radiation in the area,” Presley said adding that he’ll exit the moment he receives an all-clear message.  Thus far city officials are struggling with a way to have the area inspected with the military refusing to respond.  Presley sent a selfie from inside.

Also inside the shelter are the mayor’s security team comprised of four Palestine police officers.
