PALESTINE, TX–She wasn’t gone long—or long enough if you ask some city employees—but former Palestine city manager Wendy Ellis is back at work at the very city that parted ways with her just months earlier. This time; however, she’s a man and after an 18-hour operation emerged as Assistant City Manager Larry Pannell.
Ellis, or Pannell as he prefers now, also serves as the chief financial officer.
“The micro-managing, rude behavior, along with the brainwashed mind by a couple of council members leaves nothing for the imagination,” said one city employee who wished to remain anonymous. “There is no mistaking that behavior and I know it’s Wendy.”
City Manager and Police Chief Mike Alexander said he could not confirm or deny the rumors.
“I’ll admit, after hiring Larry [Pannell], I definitely see the similarities in their behavior, but as to whether this is Wendy, well, we’re conducting a DNA test.” Alexander explained.
“Of course, Larry provided a DNA sample and seemed rather confident, but when we told him we were able to get a sample of Wendy’s DNA from an old half eaten bear claw pastry found in her old desk, he seemed pretty nervous before asking what restroom he would be required to use if ‘there is a mistake on the test.”
Alexander said the results of the DNA testing is expected in the coming weeks and the results will be revealed at a future city council meeting.
